Archives For Main

Most of us view Sunday as the end of the week. Monday is usually the first day back to work after the weekend. It can feel like we get up Monday morning and try to start an engine that has sat for too long.

But what if Sundays were the beginning of the week? What if Sunday could prime the pump for a fantastic week?

How can we use Sundays as a “launching pad” for a successful week?  Continue Reading…

Over the last 2 years my wife and I have been in the process of moving from Toronto, Canada to Portland, Oregon. It has been a long journey, with its challenges. It has also been a time of character growth.

One thing is for sure, when you step out of your comfort zone and pursue a dream, you will face opposition and will feel a sense of peace.

Two months ago Laurie and the kids moved out to Portland so that we could finish the immigration process. This week I will be moving to join them!

It couldn’t come at a better time, I have properly transitioned out of my current role at work and my daughter’s third birthday is this week!

Now this is where I am going to ask for your help. Paul Resume Pic

My beautiful daughter was born in June of 2011. Soon she will be 3! When we went into the hospital I put my phone on silent (because I just assumed you were supposed to in a hospital!). I also wanted to be fully available to my wife.

Before then, my phone would buzz, beep, ring and chime all the time. Like most people I get plenty of work and personal emails on a regular basis, and they come in at all hours of the day.

I remember one time my wife and I went out for dinner. My phone beeped in the middle of our conversation and without thinking I checked my phone. My wife was talking, but I wasn’t paying attention. Needless to say, I had to apologize to my wife! Continue Reading…

Last week I wrote an article on 3 Consistency Killer We All Face. Regardless of whether you are a blogger, musician, business person or a teacher, we all struggle to be consistent to the goals we set.

It can be difficult to be consistent. Life is busy, the kids need our attention, the game is on and my twitter feed never stops!

Is it possible to become and stay consistent in the things we want to do?  Continue Reading…

It’s Sunday night. The page is blank. I thought I was supposed to hit “Publish” tomorrow morning.

Every serious blogger I know says consistency is king. I guess I must not be as serious as I thought. Discouragement kicks in and I wonder why I paid for another year of hosting service.

If you’re like me (and I’m guessing someone reading this might be) you might struggle the same way. Glad to know we’re not alone! Continue Reading…

Small Important Einstein quote Paul Jolicoeur

Before my wife and I got married we had the money talk. We understood the value of living on less than what we made.

There were two things we were in agreement on. First, we never wanted to be in debt (except to own a house). Second, we wanted to live on my salary alone, that way when we had kids she could stay home with them.

When we were married we had some debt. When I say we, I mean me. It wasn’t a lot, but it was still debt. We agreed that we were not going into any more debt and that we were going to get out of debt within a year.  Continue Reading…

Leadership by example is the idea of being the person you would like others to be. It is you standing out as an example to others.

It is doing the things you want others to do.

If leadership is influence, then leading by example is the best way to show others the way.

The flip side is called hypocrisy. We all hate hypocrites!  Continue Reading…

When I started this blog, my goal was to blog once a week. My hope is that I can be a weekly resource for you as you grow your influence and potential as a leader.

Over the last couple of weeks you may have noticed I have been silent. For that I am sorry.

Recently I shared about my family’s Unexpected Detour. As we have been planning our move to Portland, OR, things have taken a few extra turns.  Continue Reading…
