Are you interested in gaining more responsibility or receiving a promotion?
Unless you are completely satisfied with where you are and are not concerned about gaining more influence you are going to want to keep this next line in mind.
Do what you are currently doing now and do it well. Be faithful to follow the basic instructions you have been given. We must learn to do the small things with excellence.
It’s pretty simple because in the end, people won’t trust you with more until they can trust you with what you have already been given.
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” Jesus (Luke 16:10)
In Joshua 6, we see the people of Israel moving into the promise land. They are told not to take anything from the lands they are concurring.
Enter in a guy named Achan. He takes a robe, along with some gold and silver; hiding it under his tent.
Seriously?! You were just given very simple instructions. Don’t taking anything! Like he could fool the God of the universe!
Of course he gets caught and the punishment is destruction. Not just death, he was destroyed. Along with his family and everything he owns.
You can’t have the greater of the future until you are faithful with the present!
When we are faithful with the small responsibilities and tasks we are given, we build trust with others.
This trust will lead to new opportunities that will lead to greater influence.
When you take the small things for granted, especially when you are capable doing an excellent job you are showing that you don’t have integrity in your work or a very strong work ethic.
When you are asked to do the mundane or the simple, don’t take these opportunities for granted. If you prove to do well, you will be rewarded.
No one will give you $100 to take care of if you can’t handle $10.
What small responsibilities can you do this week to show yourself faithful?
