Right now, there are 27,000,000 people in slavery around the world. The average age of a slave in North America is 14 years old. 8 out of every 10 slaves are sex slaves. Something is very wrong with this picture.

Each of these people are somebody’s son or daughter. Every human is equal in their value because I believe we were each created to reflect the glory of our creator.

This is why slavery is wrong; because we were created by a creator, on purpose and for a purpose. END IT logo

Slavery is a miss use of power, a miss use of human potential and a lack of understanding of the worth of a human being.

Nobody should be allowed to own another person.

So today, I stand with the #ENDITMOVEMENT to speak out against slavery.

When you stand up against slavery, you are standing up for the worker that is required to work long days in sub-standard conditions for little or no pay.

You are standing up for the girl taken from her family, relocated and forced into prostitution. For the girl who hasn’t seen the light of day because of her captors.

This is happening in “far off” places in the world (in over 160 countries).

BUT it is also happening RIGHT NOW, in YOUR town.

We can’t ignore it, because we are called to stand up and speak out. We can’t ignore it because we are free and we must use our freedom to free others.

We are called to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice. Proverbs 31:8-9

What can you do?

Spread the word. Be a part of creating awareness. That’s what the End It campaign is all about.

Find an organization that is working within your town. Partner with them. Perhaps you can give some of your time.

If your time is not what they need, then I am sure they need some of your money. Donate to them.

Consider working with any number of international organizations (like the IJM).

There is a church in our town that creates what is called a “dignity kit”. When the police rescue a girl from sex trafficking, she needs clothes and certain personal items. These kits contain those necessities.

We partnered with them to make sure a kit is ready for every rescue. This isn’t everything she needs but it’s a fantastic start.

We can all be a part of the solution as we can equally be a part of the problem.

When we speak up, we fight. When we stay quiet, we give it permission to continue.

Today, take the first step and spread the work and create awareness. Please visit the #ENDITMOVEMENT website.

What can you do today to help end slavery?
